Rob McGowan

Rob McGowan has worked in the music industry from the age of 15, playing in school and church bands and then going on to work with his father in a band called Hi Way 1. Hi Way 1 toured the west of Australia starting in Kalgoorlie and moving to Perth to play at the iconic "Lindy's" night club and many of the city's famous hotels, as well as performing at the Perth Jazz Festival. Then the band moved on touring the "Walkabout" hotels throughout Western Ausrtralia, ending up in Darwin. After advice from members of the "Troupadores", Ivan Daymon, arguably the country's most influential booking agent at the time, sought out Hi Way 1 and engaged them on an intense tour of the rest of Australia. When the band were in Brisbane for a long stint, Rob decided it was time to leave the band when he was ask to play in the famous Brisbane club "DB's" owned by the late legendary Johnnie Morris.

From there Rob became well known in Brisbane and South East Queensland and after a few bands and much club work he, with two of his contemporaries, founded the popular band "Witzend". For the next ten tears "Witzend"  toured the east coast, performed at the Brisbane FREEPS and expo '88, played at the opening of the Stockman's Hall of Fame in Longreach and much more as well as becoming the favourite backing band of many of the nations entertainers. They also received awards for the most popular backing band 8 years in a row , worked at the Gympie Muster for at least 7 years, backing many country artists and apeared at the Gladstone Harbour Festival 8 times.

The 90's saw Rob as solo act, comedian and fronting a Blood Sweat and Tears/Chicago band which became instantly popular and introduced Rob to a whole new audience and a new generation of musicians, all holding Rob in high regard. Rob continued into the new millenium touring with internationals Herman's Hermits, the Platters, the Drifters and starting up his own show "that60sguy" performing in Brisbane, the East Coast from Coffs to Cairns, and from Albury to Western Australia.

So there is definately no shortage of experience in this great entertainer.
